Hello, my name is Cate Smith.  Welcome to the Saint Francis of Assisi P.E classroom. My goal is to engage all students at all fitness levels in activities that will inspire students to live a fit, healthy lifestyle.

After graduating from Fontbonne University I began my teaching career at Saint Bernadette Elementary School.  I spent 4 years teaching at Saint Martin of Tours Elementary School before staying home to raise my 4 children.  I have a BA in Elementary Education and 16 years of teaching experience. I have taught 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade, and spent 2 years as a Junior High Science teacher. This year will be my 6th year as a P.E. teacher, and my third year at SFA.   I have participated in athletics through college and fitness is a part of my daily life.

I have been married for 19 years and have 4 children.  My oldest son John is a Senior in high school.  My daughter Katie is a Sophomore in high school. My son Cooper is a Freshman in high school. My youngest child, Riley, will be in 7th grade at SFA this year.   I love to hike, play sports, watch my kids play sports, and spend time with my family doing anything.

SFA is a special place because it truly is a faith filled community.  The students are full of energy and the Catholic faith is truly at the center of the curriculum.
