The Mission of SFA School Board

From the SFA Family Handbook - The School Board and administration of St. Francis of Assisi share the goal of assuring that students receive the best Catholic education the parish can provide. The board realizes that students or parents occasionally disagree with the faculty or administration on policy, educational approach, discipline, or other issues. The board stands ready to advise and assist the administration with these issues in any way the principal or pastor requests.

The Archdiocese defines the School Board's role as advisory in nature. The School Board of St. Francis of Assisi supports this vision of its role. Therefore, the School Board has no direct role in the grievance procedure for students. The board expects that the aggrieved shall pursue their case through the teacher, principal, pastor, and Archdiocese (in that order) as outlined in the Archdiocese's policies.

School Board Meetings

St. Francis of Assisi School Board meets monthly, August through May, on the first Wednesday of the month, subject to change. The specific dates are published in the weekly school newsletter.

The monthly business meetings are not open to the public. The School Board of St. Francis of Assisi School has an open session at the beginning of the meetings for interested parents and parishioners to present information or raise questions to the St. Francis of Assisi School Board. Please contact the board president to pre-arrange this activity 48 hours before the meeting. Your time to present will be limited to 15 minutes. When the School Board receives information from an individual or a delegation, it receives data for future consideration. No decision will generally be made at that time. The board will inform the individual or delegation when a decision is made or if any appropriate action may be taken.
