St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School: 5th Grade
Mrs. Mary Burkhardt
Hello I’m Mrs. Burkhardt. Welcome to 4th/5th grade ELA and Social Studies. In my classroom, I hope to share my passion for books and U.S. history. I want my students to enter Middle school with a love of reading, and an eagerness to learn more about past and present events, and a desire to shape the future.
I come from a long line of teachers, my grandmother, and several aunt were all educators. So I knew that it was my calling.
I received a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Missouri - St. Louis. I taught Music for one year, Kindergarten for 27 years, and 5th Grade for six years and counting.
My husband and I live in Fenton with a 13 year old tuxedo cat named Charlie, and a 2 year old Sheltie named Sheldon. We love to travel whenever we can find the time. In my spare time I like to read, cook, garden and spend time with my family and friends on the family farm in Illinois.
St. Francis is not just a Parish, school, or a job to me. It is family. It is home.
